Growing up in Chicago, a city faced with challenges in both crime and poverty, Raegen was able to personally relate to issues impacting teenage girls in urban communities. Her mother was a public school teacher in one of the worst communities in Chicago (The Robert Taylor Housing Projects); Raegen was able to witness the challenges impacting urban communities at an early age. In the school where her mother taught, there were young girls who were pregnant at the age of 13, involved in gang related activities and even arrested for drug trafficking. Raegen attended a public high school where teenage girls were forced to be involved in gangs, pregnant, and mentally or physically abused.

Raegen consistently looks to help improve the lives of teenage girls and young women today, who are faced with even more challenges. Her sole focus is to bridge the gap between the education and economic disparities in America’s urban areas. Raegen maintains an active and healthy life style almost daily.
