Girls Prep was founded in 2009 as a non-profit mentoring organization offering innovative, collaborative and personalized mentoring relationships to African-American and Latinx girls between the ages of 16-21. We seek to increase the educational outcomes of these two minority groups and our success criteria is to have 100% of our program participants matriculate and complete college within four years and enhance the pool of future minority women leaders for the 21st century.
We will achieve this through the following:
• Academic preparation & support
• Social & economic development
• Exposure to cultural diversity
• Leveraging technology in mentoring
The first and foremost goal of our non-profit organization is to make a positive difference in as many girls’ lives as possible. We strive to improve the professional skill set of future women leaders, in offering additional resources to teens and young adults that need additional support in preparing for college. There are many obstacles and challenges that can occur throughout the 4 years it takes to successfully navigate through college and obtain a solid foundation for beginning a new career after college. We are here to support girls throughout their collegiate years as we prepare them for the first steps of having a career trajectory that leads to obtaining a high-level leadership role. Have you ever thought about how much of an impact you could have in becoming a volunteer?
